Veganuary is a movement that encourages people to try a vegan diet for the month of January. It was started in the UK in 2014 and has since grown into a global campaign.
The goal is to raise awareness about the benefits of a plant-based diet for our health, the environment, and animal welfare. Some inspirations for Veganuary include trying new plant-based recipes, exploring vegan restaurants in your area, and learning about the impact of animal agriculture on the planet.
It's a great opportunity to challenge yourself and make a positive change for yourself and the world around you.
My Vegan Lifestyle Recommendations
I've been eating vegan for over 10 years. At first it was challenging to shop and cook completely differently again, but you soon realize that you simply can't get various vegetarian products anymore and that the new diet actually tastes much better.
With the vegan eating style, your own culinary development receives an enormous boost and you learn to handle vegetables and plant-based products even better, more diversely and more respectfully.
Our vegetable dishes are never boring, but taste extremely delicious. I'm sure that many people feel the same way: through the vegan diet they have learned to season even better and to hit the right cooking points.
However, I can only recommend vegan substitute products such as tofu products, vegan schnitzels, vegan burgers, soy yogurt or vegan cheese to a limited extent, as they contain a lot of additives and unnecessary calories.
Most of these products are therefore not particularly healthy. If you can tolerate additives of any kind, it is of course up to you to buy vegan meat or dairy substitute products. But it is actually not in the spirit of a sustainable diet to stock up on finished products that contain plenty of artificial ingredients.
Therefore, the vegan diet is a little more strenuous than the conventional diet because you have to prepare a lot, but it is also much more versatile and gentler. For many dishes you can make a basic product, e.g. chickpea tofu, from which you can then cook a wide variety of dishes, for example sateh-style chickpea skewers, vegan Bolognese or even vegan schnitzels - everything is quickly homemade and you know what's in it and that you tolerate the ingredients.
Happy Veganuary,
Jette
